It seems Montgomery County government has always retained possession of the Montgomery Area Sports Hall of Fame records.

Immediate source of acquisition or transfer

Former MCA archivist Lynn Frazier acquired the records of the Montgomery Area Sports Hall of Fame Collection sometime in the mid-2000s from Montgomery County Courthouse Annex II.

Scope and content

The collection entirely consists of framed photographs of athletes, coaches, officials, administrators, and others who made a contribution to athletics in Montgomery, Autauga, and Elmore County, Alabama.

Appraisal, destruction and scheduling

The MCA’S mission statement notes the MCA collects non-government records, as long as they pertain to the history of Montgomery County. The MCA acquired the MGS Collection for this reason.
