This collection consists of issues (printed on paper) of the “Montgomery Genealogical Society Quarterly,” an organizational pamphlet, books, and maps. The “Montgomery Genealogical Society Quarterly” issues range from 1994 to 2019. The range is not
complete. However, it does have every issue published between summer 2008 and July 2014. The pamphlets provide a brief history of the Montgomery Genealogical Society, a list of society-produced publications for sale, a description of benefits of membership, as well as a form to apply for and instruction on how to join the Society. In February 2016, Montgomery Genealogical Society Member Terry Ingram donated a volume titled The Heritage of Montgomery County, Alabama. The book contains information about various subjects pertaining to Montgomery County. These subjects include: officers and participants of the Montgomery
County Heritage group, as well as individuals who helped create the book; history of Montgomery County; communities and towns within Montgomery; historic buildings; businesses; medical; military; civil rights; churches; cemeteries; schools; organizations; arts- theater-events; professional people/public officials; public agencies/institutions; parks and recreation; sports; restaurants; sites, scenes and memories; family stories; tributes, memorials and business advertisements. Ruth Ott, also of the Montgomery Genealogical Society, in February 2016 donated a highway map of Montgomery County created in 2002. The map documents the location of several cemeteries within Montgomery County.

This collection documents the history of the Paragon Press company of Montgomery, Alabama, as well as the history of the Herff Jones company plant in Montgomery, Alabama. Other major themes in the collection include records documenting the preparations for the seventieth-fifth anniversary open house celebration of Paragon Press in 1978. The collection also contains some correspondence and corporate records. The collection primarily divides into three parts: documents, images, and oversized images. In addition to oversized images, the image series also contains colored slides and a subseries of negatives. A very small series, ephemera, also exists.

This record group consists of records created by the Montgomery County, Alabama County Commission during the course of normal business. This extensive collection contains a wide variety of paper-based and photographic records, including: county commission minutes, budgets, issuing and redemption of bonds, materials related to managing elections such as polling districts and requests to change voting places, aerial photographs of the county, photographs of past and present county commissioners, records related to the construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation of county-owned buildings; various datasets including projects
related to county census, claims against the county, the county’s funding and oversite of various non-profit entities, employee rules and regulations, employee handbooks, official bonds and oaths of various county employees, deeds to county properties, records no longer created by the Montgomery County Commission, and miscellaneous records. This record group also contains the county Board of Equalization records. The Board of Equalization occupies a unique place in county government structure since it has a fair degree of independence in conducting its duties. For instance, the Board of Equalization reviews the work of the county revenue commission and if necessary changes property valuations.
